Give the numbers behind your baking a home

Home Bakery Bookkeeping: Sales, Payments & Profit in BakersPro

Build a home-bakery bookkeeping routine using BakersPro orders, sales records, invoices, payment receipts and expected profit, alongside your expense records.

Imagine finishing a busy collection day and knowing where to look for the order total, the payment record and the invoice. That is a useful starting point for home bakery bookkeeping. BakersPro connects those day-to-day business records, while a separate expense record and appropriate accounting support complete the wider picture.

Your five-step weekly bookkeeping routine

  1. Review the orders. Check customer, agreed scope, date, status and price. Resolve changes rather than relying on an old message.
  2. Match payments to evidence. Check recorded deposits, final payments and customer receipts against the actual settlement records. Investigate missing, duplicated, failed or refunded amounts.
  3. Keep purchases separately. Save supplier invoices and receipts for ingredients, packaging, equipment and other business costs. Record date, supplier, amount, currency, business purpose and supporting-document reference in your expense system.
  4. Review the difference between plan and reality. Compare the costs used for pricing with actual purchasing and production experience. Update future costing where necessary.
  5. Prepare the accountant handoff. Bring the order and payment evidence, expense records, bank statements, fees, refunds and questions to your bookkeeper or accountant. Confirm the format they need; this guide does not promise an automatic accounting integration or export.

A deposit is not another whole order

Imagine a $240 order with $60 received first and $180 later. The customer has paid $240 in total, not $480 because an invoice and two payments exist. Record the order once, link each actual payment to it, and track any refund separately. Fees and taxes need their own treatment. Ask your accountant when revenue should be recognized for your circumstances; payment timing and revenue recognition are not always the same.

Understanding the BakersPro Profit Tracker

The reviewed Profit Tracker uses the expected profit saved with qualifying orders and offers period views. Think of that as a view of the assumptions behind your orders, not an independent audit of all business costs. Missing costs, changed production time, refunds and overhead can change the final result. Review margin versus markup before interpreting a figure.

Do you still need accounting software?

Possibly. BakersPro’s role here is to organize the baker-facing costing, order, invoice, sales and payment workflow. Do not assume it provides a general ledger, bank-feed reconciliation, payroll, tax filing or complete expense accounting. Use a suitable accounting system or professional where needed, with BakersPro keeping the underlying customer and order context clear.

For Canadian record-keeping responsibilities, consult the Canada Revenue Agency’s keeping-records guidance, checked 28 Oct 2026. Other jurisdictions have their own authorities. Storing something in an app does not itself establish compliance.

Make the weekly review a regular task

Add “Review this week’s orders and payments” to your BakersPro planner. Keep private customer and bank information out of task titles and shared screenshots. For the business-record workflow, explore BakersPro invoices and payment tracking and choosing home bakery software, then get BakersPro.
